To display on-bus fares, a NeTEx fare dataset needs to be uploaded into Passenger Cloud, reviewed, and published. NeTEx is a multimodal data standard that can transmit bus information, including fares and tickets.

This format describes fare information to a sufficient level of detail to let us use it in the Journey Planner, and English operators are required by legislation to publish their fare data in the NeTEx format by the Bus Open Data Service (BODS).

There are two broad steps for operators to display on-bus fares:

  1. Upload, review, and publish an accurate on-bus fare dataset
  2. Make any necessary refinements to on-bus fares in Passenger Cloud
