TransXChange (TXC) is the UK nationwide standard for exchanging bus schedules and related data.

TransXChange datasets are built using Extensible Markup Language (XML) files.

Passenger uses TransXChange datasets to import information about bus networks, these are used throughout the product, for example;

  • Line list

  • Timetables

  • Line, stop and journey maps

  • Departure boards

  • Journey plans

TransXChange can come from many different sources, including directly from operators, councils or local transport authorities.

Passenger prefers to receive as direct a as source as possible from the original data producer, this means that if there are any data issues it's easier to ascertain why and where in the pipeline these have been introduced and therefore hopefully easier to organise a resolution.
