You can create a discount code to enable your customers to receive money off a ticket purchase, using either the mobile app or web to mobile ticket purchasing.
To create a discount code, you will need Ticket Product Manager responsibilities in Passenger Cloud.
1. Visit the 'Tickets' section in Passenger Cloud and then visit 'Discount codes' in the left sidebar navigation menu.
2. There are two tabs which show both active and upcoming discount campaigns as well as those that have expired.
The 'Active & upcoming' tab shows any active codes, and any that are upcoming based on the specified Validity start date.
The 'Expired' tab shows any codes that are no longer available to use on the basis that the specified Validity end date is in the past.
3. To create a new discount code, make sure you are on the 'Active & upcoming' tab and press the 'Create a discount code' button.
4. Define the basic details of the discount campaign by entering the discount title, code and description.
Field | Required | Visible to customers | Description |
---|---|---|---|
Title | Required | Visible | Give the code a short title to help distinguish its use and functionality |
Code* | Required | Visible | This is the code that customers will need to enter to obtain the discount. It can be alphanumeric only and is always presented in uppercase |
Description | Required | Visible | This is a shorter, further explanation of the discount and will be displayed to users at checkout |
*Code cannot be changed once the discount code has been created.
5. Then specify the discount that a customer will receive, either by percentage or amount.
Field | Required | Visible to customers | Description |
---|---|---|---|
Discount type* | Required | Visible | Defines whether the discount will give a percentage off a ticket or a fixed amount |
Discount amount* | Required | Visible | This will be the actual amount of discount that a customer will receive. This will either be in percentage or amount form depending on the value chosen in the Discount type field |
*Discount type and discount amount cannot be changed once the discount code has been created.
6. Define the period of time for which the code will be valid to use by customers.
Field | Required | Visible to customers | Description |
---|---|---|---|
Start date | Required | Not visible | Define the date from which the discount can be redeemed and applied |
Start time | Required | Not visible | Define the time on the start date from which the discount can be redeemed and applied |
End date | Required | Not visible | Define the date until which the discount can be redeemed and applied |
End time | Required | Not visible | Define the time on the end date until which the discount can be redeemed and applied |
7. Configure any limitations to restrict usage of the discount code.
Field | Required | Visible to customers | Description |
---|---|---|---|
Max uses per customer | Optional | Not visible | This defines the number of times a single customer (registered account email address) can claim the code. Leave blank for unlimited uses |
Email domains | Optional | Not visible | This field allows you to restrict the code's usage to only those accounts with email addresses that end in a certain domain. This might be beneficial for student discounts at academic institutions with academic email addresses or corporate discounts restricted to one or more corporate domains. Separate each domain with a comma or a new line. The @ symbol is not required |
Only applies to the first purchase | Optional | Not visible | This restricts the code's usage to only those customers who have not purchased a ticket before. This might be beneficial for incentivising first-time app purchases |
Automatically apply voucher code to relevant purchase | Optional | Not visible | This field enables the code to be automatically applied to a qualifying purchase (i.e. one matching all the conditions created in this form) without the need for a customer to enter the discount code |
8. Once you are happy with your setup, press the 'Continue to ticket selection' button.
9. You will then be taken to a page to choose which tickets from your ticket product catalogue the discount code will apply to.
You can either choose to apply the discount to all of your tickets or you can choose to apply it only to specific tickets.
If you choose to apply to all tickets, this will apply to tickets created in the future too.
If you choose to apply it to only specific tickets, you will be required to choose these tickets from the table that appears below.
10. If you have chosen to apply the discount to specific tickets, you will be able to do this using the table that appears below.
Simply use the checkboxes to select the individual tickets the discount should be applied to.
11. Once done and you're happy with the discount code details and ticket selection, press the 'Create discount code' button.
Note that once you have pressed this, the details will save and you will no longer be able to amend the discount amount or the discount code itself. To go back and change the amount and code prior to pressing this button, press the 'Back to discount details' button instead.
11. Congratulations! You have created your discount code. You can go back to the discount codes list to review your list of active, upcoming and expired discount codes and their details.
